I know the animal rights groups are trying to ban hunting. It's a stupid idea. New Jersey is going with sanity, I would like to know how many people have to die in CA before this changes. I hope it's less than one, but as stated above, that does not seem to be the case.
Do bourgeoning wolf populations in the Rockies constitute an emergency that would justify the sort of response states typically reserve for floods, wildfires and other natural disasters?
Or, put another way, might the Idaho National Guard be called out to kill wolves?
Is this going to negatively affect wildlife populations? Yes. Is this going to negatively affect the livestock industry? Yes. Should the wolf population be better controlled? Yes. Should a state of emergency be declared? NO. Should the number of hunting tags go up a little next year? I would recommend giving such thoughts consideration. P.S. Does anybody think that farmer's tags for wolves should be made? (you know, like for deer and elk?)
When U.S. Rep. Steve King found a raccoon trying to chew into his rural Western Iowa home during a snowstorm last week, he reacted like most folks who live out in the country and away from the city.
He grabbed the closest and most familiar firearm and preceded to dispatch the troublesome critter, which he thought might be rabid because of its bizarre behavior during the middle of the day.
A weird turn of events due to the winter weather pounding the East Coast is taking place in Florida. Apparently, iguanas stunned by the cold snap are falling out of trees and laying in hibernation, dying or dead on the ground where dogs find and play with or eat them. The results have proven fatal for many of the canines.
This is honestly a bit of a surprise. I know the Gila Monster and Mexican Bearded lizard are posionous. Komodo Dragons have a septic bite that kills by infection. The fact that these iguanas have disease causing bacteria on the skin is just not what I expected, or wanted, to hear.
Remember Folks, Moose and Driving do not mix. Jest aside I really do like these things and think it sad for the animals and a tragedy for the drivers when these things happen. I hope the drivers in the pictures presented survived.
I am not surprised by the founding fathers' comments. I agree and their words ring true to this day. As a christian I am pleased that Aquinas and Augustine were quoted. The sixth commandment only applies to the premeditated killing of a human being in peacetime anyway. The big surprise is the Dalai Lama's statement. I know buddhism is heavy on thought and philosophy, but I am indeed pleasantly surprised it is applied in such a way.
A teenage folk singer was attacked and killed by two coyotes in a national park in eastern Canada.
Taylor Mitchell, 19, was attacked while she was hiking alone in Cape Breton Highlands Park, Nova Scotia, when she was attacked by two of the animals on Tuesday. She died of her wounds on Wednesday.
I wish to offer my most humble and heartfelt condolences to the young lady's family. I hope God will give you the strength to see you through this horrible time and that you will only remember the good times with her.
I am very pleased to see these women enjoying themselves in the outdoors. I am also very humbled, as my fishing skills are much poorer than that of these ladies.
An appeals court in Chicago has ruled that the federal, state or local government can require all citizens to register their firearms under penalty of law.
A three-judge panel of the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals said that, even after the Supreme Court's high-profile gun rights decision last year, the Second Amendment is no obstacle to mandatory gun registration.
A minor question. What if the (is it 90,000,000 or 100,000,000) gun owners in the U.S. don't feel like reporting in and filling things out? We already can't afford how our penal system is set up, where would they put all of us?

AMAZING PHOTOS: An adult mountain lion takes down a bighorn!
That has to be a shot in a thousand for the cougar. Aren't bighorns supposed to have good vision? That cougar did a good job that day.

I wish to congratulate the congressman on the shot. Does anybody know if he's a member of the Congressional Sportsman's Caucus?

Car/deer accidents are on the rise, but so are car/moose collisions where your chances of walking away unscathed are somewhere between slim and none.
