I do not think you need it in a case. I never have nor have i seen any other bow fisher with their bow in a case.
If you can take a whitetail cleanly with a compound or crossbow you have accomplished something! But do not abuse your privileges! Either with a compound or crossbow! Be smart and make clean kills! But overall my personal opinion is if you can pull back a bow use it! And remember with great power comes great responsibility! :)
Welcome to the most exciting and heart pounding experience you can have...bow hunting whitetails! I recommend going to a local hunting/bow store. Usually there is someone there who can help you set your bow up. There you can see what setup you like the best and test it out. When I started practicing I didn't shoot past 20 yards until I was very confident. Also watch lots of hunting videos. There you will learn a lot about shot placement and how a well shot deer will react. Hunting videos also help in preparing yourself mentally. You will be able to see how a deer comes in and read their body language. When practicing have fun, and don't get mad if you aren't hitting the bulls eye every time. Bow hunting is supposed to be fun, and like every thing else if ya want to get good practice is key. Good luck dude!
I have been using a 270 for a couple years, and this year I used a 25-06. I was very impressed with how devastating the ballistic tip was. I shot two deer with this round. I shot a doe at 100 yards and she only went 35 yards. My second deer was a buck and he was almost 300 yards. He dropped in his tracks, never even kicked! (I was so pumped after that shot!) So i just wondered how the 130gr ballistic tip worked for the 270. Thanks for your impute.
