Here in IL we can hunt as close to the road as possible without being on the road. We cannot shoot across the road though, which is smart, i dont hunt along the road though dont find it to be too smart. Louie

Nutrition is the biggest problem, here in the midwest we have agriculture, corn, beans, alfalfa, etc. They have mountains and hard woods.

I shoot a whisker biscuit and i cut my arrows to the end of my riser it does fine. If your shooting fingers instead of a release you could have twisted your hand and pulled the string off. Shoot a release it improves your shooting skills and accuracy.

Actually, this year my buddy was hunting and had spine shot a doe, he waited for me to get over there to help him with the deer. (Finish it off) As i was slowly walking up the doe turned her head and tried to what looked like pull the arrow out and when she couldn't she broke it off. It was something ive never seen before but i guess it happens! Louie

I actually had a buddy who had a deer farm that had a spike buck. He didnt feed it he had it in a 500 acre fenced in area with so many other deer. This buck was a spike then an 100 inch 6 then a 140 inch 9 then turned out to be a 220 inch buck before he died of blue tongue and he was not fed anything although here in illinois we have corn and beans and other crops thats it. Just goes to show pass a young buck so he can grow.

Depends on whether he saw you. Did he spook? Or was he looking for a fight. If so rattle and snort/wheeze at him... Good luck!

Is there good trails, any sign of deer in the area? If not try moving to a different spot. If there is sign give it time. Patience is the key!
Keeps heards/populations healthy, population count where we can maintain it. A bunch of different things that are important. I am not a wildlife biologist so I'm not going to go into that kind of detail.

Since the Rut is pretty much on in the midwest, they should start getting into rutting mode. They might/should be out during daylight. Try calls, rattling, grunting, in about a week or so depending on where you live start putting doe in estrous scent on.
start of next week is when im going to start. If you live in the north/midwest/northeast. Southern states' rut comes later in dec or so i believe

I personally dislike Butt-out, i would rather use my hunting knife and make an incision around the anus and it all slides out better, also alot faster.

Either wait for the deer to look away or to put his head down to feed or put his head behind a tree or if you have leaves or cover in front or to the side or wherever the deer is wait for him to get behind that brush.

your draw length is to long for you, your arm is locked straight out when your at full draw and that causes the string to bark your arm, it can be painful, go to a dealer or a bow shop and get your bows draw length shortened

Well it depends on your draw weight, the more weight you have the bigger the grain, i pull 55 lbs. and shoot 100 grain fixed blade broadheads. I only hunt whitetails though i wouldnt know about elk hunting

Nicely said Bo, why can't all hunters be like us? I wouldn't ever trespass, treat one how you want to be treated is what i go by, if i had land i would think people would have enough respect to stay off my land unless i gave them permission to do so.
depends on where you live, your strength and ability, i personally shoot a compound and think it is more of a challenge and here in the great state of illinois its against the law unless a senior citizen or disabled

Aaron1991 is correct. Redbone, black & tan, and blue tick are very popular in coon hunting.
My hunting buddy was sittin in his stand and it overlooks a pond. A basket rack 8 trots up and jumps in the water. He shoots the buck and we take it home to process it. We get to the front shoulders and it smells like deviled eggs, its rotten, but he shot it in the pond and it dropped completely under water.

also it is easier to shed hunt on overcast days, the sun for some reason camoflauges them. I have found sheds caught in tree limbs and stuck in fences. Good Luck!
