Here’s the best way to waterproof your leather boots and gloves. The best part? It’s dirt-cheap. This trick will also soften and preserve the leather. Just pick up a wax toilet gasket at the local hardware store, clean up your boots or gloves with a brush or cloth, and then warm them in the sun or in front of a stove or heater. Then rub the wax into the leather. Let them sit in a warm place or in the sunshine while the wax penetrates. That’s it—you’re done. Check out the video to see exactly how I do it.
