Still waiting to hear if he got it done! I hope so.. I'm happy to hear the cause they are trying to raise money for as well.. God Bless our nations soldiers, past and present. We owe them for the gift of being able to hunt and fish this great nation!

what species is he gonna catch? I wonder if ice fishing for atlantic smelt would count in breaking the record. Ive seen 1000 of these tasty little fish caught in a 6 hour tide.

Here's an email I received from chris@fishingforlife.org.

Hey Josh

Great Spot, thanks. Jeff got 1559 fish, or somewhere's
thereabouts.....still a freaky high number. Things that kept it down this
year were
1. More predator fish in the spots (northern and muskie had to be shoo'ed away with poles, dynamite (okay not dynamite, etc.)
2. STorm front moved in and knocked out a key hour of fishing at dusk, definitely lost 150 toward the count in that period
3. Overnight dock lighting was shut down at 3:00 am. Last year Maynard's played Red Roof Inn (or whatever hotel chain logo that is) and left the lights on for us.

Still amazing that he bagged that many, and even when the record was out of reach he fished to the last minute. I could barely see straight then but he was still baiting hooks, releasing fish, and avoiding all voices in his head from a night of caffeine and power bars.

Aug. 21st is the day of the Armed Forces Family Fishing Celebration. Promises to be a great day. Thanks for helping raise awareness to support our service members and their families. Keep up the great work.
