Deer Forecast 2002

Outdoor Life Online Editor

Coast Range blacktail hunters should find good buck populations in Klamath, Trinity and Six Rivers national forests, particularly Zones B1 and B2. Mule deer herds in the northeast and in some interior units in Zone D are in good shape. For trophy muleys, hunt high on the eastern slopes of the Sierras. Lottery-tag preference points are now given. Annual harvests usually average 21,000 deer, mostly bucks.
