Connecticut’s biggest bucks will come from the northeast and northwest, where active farmland produces big deer. Hunters should also focus on the southwestern counties, where hunter access is limited and deer grow old (and big). The harvest should top last year’s take of 12,000 deer. The bowhunting season may be extended through January in Zones 11 and 12. Contact: CDNR (860-642-7239; http://dep.state.ct.us/burnatr/wildlife).
