According to biologist John Morgan, the northwestern region of the state continues to rank highest in terms of both numbers of deer and rack size. The state increased its doe days statewide this year (but not on WMAs) from two to seven. Therefore, owners of small parcels of property will be able to more effectively manage their deer herd. Morgan adds that last year’s drought and wildfires had no appreciable impact on whitetails.
