Illinois joined the list of Midwestern states bumping nonresident deer tag fees, raising the price to $200 for a firearm tag and $226 for an archery tag (plus the cost of a hunting license.) Biologist Paul Shelton says west-central counties continue to produce trophy bucks, but “big deer live across the state,” he adds. “Hunters will find less pressure in less popular areas.”
