Last year’s abundant mast crop hindered hunter success, but it provided deer with energy food for quality body weights and antlers for this fall. A 1611/8-inch buck was killed in Natchitoches Parish last season, a 1996/8-inch non-typical buck was taken in Red River Parish and a 1984/8-inch non-typical was harvested on Camp Beauregard WMA.
