Biologist Bill Lunceford says drought two years ago resulted in some big-bodied deer carrying comparatively small racks last fall. “Conditions improved last summer with a superb acorn crop, but bucks didn’t move around until the peak of the rut last fall, so I think there was great ‘carryover.’ That, plus the four-point rule, should provide hunters with a good season this fall,” says Lunceford.
