"The state used to be under a four-buck rule," says biologist Evin Stanford. Under the four-buck rule, a hunter could harvest six deer, four of which could be antlered bucks. "Two years ago we went to a two-buck rule in selected areas." Increases in doe harvest, with decreases in buck harvest, are resulting in a better buck-to-doe ratio and older, larger bucks.
