RHODE ISLAND

Deer Forecast 2002

Outdoor Life Online Editor

The deer population in Rhode Island continues to expand even as more and more habitat becomes developed. This leads to concentrations of deer that are available only to hunters willing to work hard at gaining permission to hunt on private land. Big deer are dispersed throughout all counties in the state. Arcadia and Big River management areas offer the highest numbers of deer and are the largest public- access areas in the state. A two-day youth archery hunt will coincide with National Hunting and Fishing weekend, September 28 and 29.
