Wildlife manager George Birdwell says excessive rain in the western part of the state this spring has caused some WMA flooding. While it will most affect duck hunting, whitetails also may be adversely impacted. In the east, drought is still ongoing, and that could create mast crop failures this fall.

Nevertheless, Birdwell says there are trophy bucks available across the state, especially in the western agricultural regions. Contact: TWRA (615-781-6500; www.state.tn.us/twra).
