Modern mechanical bow releases allow archers to draw their bows with ease and help improve their accuracy. But a trigger with improperly adjusted tension can rob performance and send shots off the mark. For hunting, a stiff trigger is better, as it lets you pull through the shot, overcoming the tendency to “punch” an especially light trigger.
When preparing for the upcoming season, shoot your bow while wearing your thickest hunting gloves. A stiff tension is necessary in order to “feel” the trigger through the thickness of the gloves. If the tension is set correctly for gloved hands, it will be fine for ungloved ones, too. Just be sure to practice with and without the gloves on.
