The second day dawned cloudy and windy with more intermittent snow. Ken and I and Jeremy rode our horses up a steep sagebrush hillside where we’d seen a herd of elk the day before. We led a packhorse loaded with all the fixin’s for making a new bait. After topping a ridge, we headed into the forest and Kenny set out two bags of dogfood and some aromatic “potions.”
We left the area and headed up the ridge where we could watch a big burn that had no bait in it, but was ideal country for bears.
