Gun Sale Leap
The National Instant Criminal Background Check System, a division of the FBI that conducts instant checks for concealed-weapons permits and long-gun sales, says it received 937,042 requests for background checks in the month after the September terrorist attacks-that’s a 21 percent rise from the same period in 2000.

** Right to Carry**
Florida leads the nation in pushing for reciprocal recognition of concealed carry permits. The state’s Division of Licensing has hammered out agreements with 19 other states to acknowledge each other’s concealed handgun licenses. To see whether your permit is valid in other states, go to the NRA’s online guide at www.nraila.org/recmap/usrecmap.htm.

** Virtual Gun Shop **
The auction Web site www.gunbroker.com, a unit of WebVentures, Inc., is reporting that its site is being used to sell more than $1.1 million worth of firearms, knives, holsters and other related equipment every month. To assist in the transfer of firearms in accordance with all federal and state laws, the Web site maintains a list of Federal Firearms License (FFL) holders that have agreed to help buyers receive any firearms on the site.
