Liberal bloggers with strange ideas and morals and weird names like Wonkett and Smiling Chimp have been in a snit since prosecutors told White House aide Karl Rove he would not be charged with a crime in the CIA leak investigation. Special Prosceutor Patrick Fitzgerald just didn't have a smoking gun to link Rove to the outing of Valerie Plame.
Now we find out that Rove is the one with the gun, and a damn fine one at that. According to financial disclosure forms released Friday, a group of friends gave the senior adviser and deputy chief of staff to President Bush a Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon II worth $2,073.
The news of the gift has lit the anti-gun lefties on fire. They keep pointing out over and over that Katharine Armstrong, owner of the Texas ranch where Dick Cheney shot his hunting companion earlier this year on a quail hunt, chipped in on the gift. So what in the hell has that got to do with it? Rove got his gun back in 2005, months before the VP peppered Harry Whittington with bird shot in February.
