Pick your analogy: It’s like pulling a Volkswagen off the bottom of a river. It’s like winding up a load of bricks. It’s like cranking in Jared before the Subway diet. All of these are applicable to Tim Pruitt who yanked a 124-pound blue catfish out of the Mississippi River on Sunday.
Once registered, this fish will smash the previous Illinois state record (85 pounds) and easily top the current world record (121 pounds). State officials measured the fish. Its length was 58 inches and it’s girth, a gut-busting 44 inches. The fish is still alive in a holding tank and will be put on display.
