Air guns couldn’t cut it. Poison caused too much of a public outcry. Trapping only solved the problem for a short period. The problem, you ask? Geese. The location: golf courses. Canada geese have become the guests that won’t leave.

Members of an Oregon golf club had tried it all, including building a wire grid over ponds, but nothing worked. That is until groundskeepers decided to construct fake coyotes and place them around the course.

All in all the 18 holes have a dozen of the plywood decoys. Surprisingly, they work. The predators hit a nerve with the geese, perhaps tapping into a primal instinct to flee. And flee they did. The geese are no longer a problem at the course. That means they can’t be used as an excuse for a poor round.
