Among the brightly colored stock cars banking out of turn four on the Busch Series next year will be a new addition: the Smith and Wesson car. It’s a natural partnership, but this is still the first of a kind, with a gun manufacturer as the primary sponsor of a racecar. The 152-year-old company is partnering with a North Carolina company, SKI Motorsports.
Chris Lencheski, president of SKI Motorsports, said, “[BRACKET “Smith & Wesson”] is thrilled to be joining the NASCAR family of sponsors…” Smith & Wesson’s involvement won’t stop with just a logo on the side of a racecar. The partnership with SKI Motorsports will include many high-profile events at the track, including gun safety initiatives and fan promotions.
A driver, number and pit crew are yet to be named. The car will debut at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 12, 2005.
