Bob Barker, the veritable host of The Price is Right, has donated a sizable sum to Northwestern University. The reason? To start a class in animal rights law. The Bob Barker Endowment Fund for the Study of Animal Rights Law is meant to help clarify the legal rights of animals.

The focus of the studies is centered more on testing on animals and controlling the pet population. However, releases from the university imply that animal rights law will soon be expanded to cover topics such as species protection and international wildlife law.

Animal rights and anti-hunting organizations have had difficulty recently with referendums that directly concern hunting issues. Animal rights law is seen as a back door to put more restrictions on hunting by giving an animal similar protections as a human being.
