This monster nontypical buck has set the hunting world on fire this morning. Photos of the buck were posted to the Whale-Tales Archery website with the headline “Potential New Wisconsin State Non-Typical Archery Record. Congrats Jim!”

The buck, which was shot on September 18, rough scores 244 inches, according to the site’s Facebook page. It was reportedly killed in Waukesha County, a southeastern county near Milwaukee that’s a mix of farm country and suburbs.

Kyle Krischan, owner of Whale-Tales Archery, said Jim is a friend of the shop and isn’t quite ready to talk to the media yet. Also, the buck hasn’t been officially green scored.

“We had some pretty reputable guys rough score it and they came up with 244,” Krischan said.

This isn’t a mystery buck that just one day came out of nowhere. Hunters in the area had known about it for awhile, Krischan said.

“I’ve known about him for at least two years,” he said. “There were a handful of people who knew about him and did a good job of keeping it quiet … The crazy thing is the pictures don’t even do it justice.”
