Berkley Havoc Smash Tube Brings a New Shape to an Old Bass Bait

Tube baits have been around for a couple decades now. A staple of every hardcore bass fishermen, not much has changed in their design since their introduction 20-years ago. The new Havoc Smash Tube offers a new twist, with its oval shape.

Designed by BASS touring pro Mike Iaconelli, the Smash Tube's hollow body cavity and dual tentacle coloring is visually attractive, while the bait offers a large profile that fish can easily see. The oval shape is reported to increase hook-ups as the profile is flatter than typical round tubes, making the hook penetrate easier.

What I like about the bait's flatter profile is it allows for a slower presentation when the bait is "killed" on retrieve, sinking slower as more surface area is contacting the water. The flatter profile also makes for easier skipping under docks as the flatter sides skip better than round tubes.

The Smash Tube is available in six colors: Bruise, Just Norm, Newman, Norm Blue, Red Rum and Roulette.

MSRP: $3.49 for a pack of six
