Researchers studying trout migration on the Kanetok River, autopsied a 19-inch rainbow that had 20 partially digested shrews in its belly–which easily beats the old record held by a grayling that had apparently ingested 7 shrews. (Who knew that there were records for such things?)

Speculation from Alaska fish biologist Mark Lisic, says that the shrews were likely residents of an island or river bank that had flooded providing easy pickings for the rainbow.
