A good tackle storage management system is a must for keeping baits and gear organized. Recently, I had an opportunity to try one of the new Cabela’s tackle bags. Following a thorough field test, I can say I’m impressed.

This series of tackle bags was introduced 1997 and has since gone through numerous refinements. The new models feature a rugged 600-denier water-resistant fabric and heavy-duty zippers with speed pulls.

I really like the molded bottom which keeps the corners of the bags from wearing through on roughly-textured boat decks. Additionally, the molded bottom minimizes noise when sliding the bag around in the boat.

Other noteworthy features include a myriad of pockets and compartments; offering plenty of space for just about every imaginable fishing necessity. These bags come in four sizes, so there’s a bag that’s sized perfectly to match any angler’s needs. I carried a magnum along and found it difficult to fill it, even with the vast amount of gear I like to tote. (Small $34.99; Large $69.99; Magnum $89.99; Super Magnum $119.99)
