So here in America, carp aren’t commonly pursued as a desirable species for most anglers, but across the pond, they love them some carp.

Keith Williams of Surrey, England, set out to celebrate his birthday the only way a true Englishmen should – chasing after Siamese carp in Krabi, Thailand at Gillham’s Fishing Resort. Reportedly, he mentioned to his wife that morning that he could “feel it in his bones” he was going to tangle with something big.

He was right. Williams hooked a pending IGFA world record 134-pound, 7-ounce armor-plated beast that gave him a solid 25-minute battle before it was subdued.
