Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley signed legislation Tuesday allowing the state to seize firearms belonging to violent offenders.
The bill requires judges to order guns confiscated from people who have final protective orders filed against them. Judges also can force subjects of temporary protective orders to turn over their firearms under the new legislation.
Advocates for victims of domestic violence support the bill, but gun rights activists see it as unwanted gun control.
