As we enter December strong storms sweep across the nation. Gusty winds will accompany these fronts on both ends and some regions will see heavy rain (1-3inches). In all areas hunting immediately after the winds subside will be a good bet. Here are your regions:

NE – Heavy rain and wind on Wednesday will make the deer hole up. On Thursday as it clears and the winds drop to 5-10 mph, movement will pick up dramatically. Best days: Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.

SE – A strong cold front moves into the region on Tuesday. Gusty winds will push it out and drop temperatures 5-15 degrees below normal by Thursday and Friday. This along with a pressure peak of 1026 on Thursday should make deer active. Best days: Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.

SC – Cooler temperatures and a sharp jump in barometric pressure should make for late rut activity on Wednesday. Another low will then move in and slowly clear on Sunday creating another good movement period. Best days: Dec. 1 and Dec. 5.

MW – Heavy rain and snow will subside on Thursday between fronts. High pressure will peak on Sunday at 1024. Both times are good bets, especially during subsiding winds. Best days: Dec. 2, Dec. 3 and Dec. 5.

NW – A strong storm will smash into the northwest on Tuesday with heavy snow and winds up to 60 mph. Deer will hole up and start moving as it calms on Wednesday evening and Thursday. More systems move through later in the week with pressure spiking on Sunday. Best days: Dec. 1, Dec. 2 and Dec. 5.

SW – Midweek shows rising pressure and clearing with cooler temperatures in areas. Wednesday and Thursday should be good days afield. Best days: Dec. 1 and Dec. 2.

Moon times – For those who follow the moon phases and times, Friday thru Sunday shows both AM and PM times as very good. Solar activity will not be a factor this week. Good Luck!
