Rock legend Ted Nugent threw his support behind presidential hopeful Mitt Romney on Friday via his Twitter account. The Motor City Madman tweeted, “after a long heart&soul conversation with MittRomney today I concluded this goodman will properly represent we the people & I endorsed him.” This show of support is bittersweet for Uncle Ted who still contends that his first choice for president, current Texas Governor Rick Perry, would be the best candidate.

In a recent interview Nugent exclaimed, “If the real Rick Perry had been at those debates, he would still be in the race. It is my firm belief that Rick Perry would have [made] and would make the best president we could choose … Whatever occurred at those early debates that caused the real Rick Perry to take a back seat to whoever that was literally caused my wife to cry. We thought, ‘Has he been advised by idiots?’ To this day, we still don’t know what happened.”

Here’s hoping Romney won’t make Mrs. Nugent cry. Ted Nugent fans can see the rocker live and on stage soon when he tours with Styx and REO Speedwagon later this year.
