Most people know to keep an eye out for sharks while at the beach, but what about alligators? Maybe they should. A 10-foot gator showed up on Holden Beach in North Carolina Wednesday baffling police and beach-goers.

The cops kept an eye on the gator until wildlife officer Thomas Padgett arrived. Padgett was able to lasso the gator and, with help from the police, muscle it into a large holding tube.

The alligator was taken to an undisclosed location and released, according to the associated press.

Right now there is no alligator hunting allowed in North Carolina. However, the South Carolina season opens on September 8th.
