Yesterday it was a state record blue marlin from Alabama, and today it’s a longnose gar.
Although Taylor Foral of Omaha, NE caught this beauty of a gar back in May, it wasn’t until a few days ago when NEBRASKAlandMagazine.com posted the official record.
The gar was 55.5 inches long and weighed 23 pounds, 11 ounces.
Foral’s gar surpassed the previous record, which had stood for 12 years, by three pounds. The world record longnose gar weighs 50 pounds and was caught in Texas’ Trinity River in 1954.
