Rabid Wolf Injures at Least 11 People in Tiberias

A rabid female wolf tore through the streets of Tiberias last week injuring at least 11 people, according to Haaretz.com.

The attacks began in the morning and continued for hours into the afternoon, until police were finally able to corner and kill the animal. The injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for rabies.

At first, Tiberias residents were unsure whether the animal was a rabid dog or jackal, according to Haaretz.com. Tiberas is an Israeli city along the western shore of the Sea of Galilee. Israel is home to the Arabian wolf, a smaller subspecies of gray wolf.
