Deer numbers are at an all-time high nationwide, and with those higher numbers come more deer and vehicle accidents. And the latest to make the news is a doozy!
A whitetail either jumped or fell from the Illinois 72 overpass onto I-90 — or rather onto Heidi Conner’s minivan, CBS 2 reports.
Conner was traveling with her four children, going westbound on Interstate 90 near Barrington. She was cruising along at 70mph when the deer exploded through the front windshield.
“I’m driving, everything was fine. Boom, and I have a deer lying next to me in my car,” she said. “If it had been one inch to the left, it would have been dead center. I wouldn’t have been able to control the car. And one inch to the right, it would have killed my son.”
Fortunately, everyone was fine. Well, not the deer or the car, which was totaled.
This collision left Justin Novarro, the first police state trooper to arrive at the scene, at a loss.
“Never in my career have I seen anything like this,” he said.
