The only time I’ve ever used a claw machine at the arcade when I was a kid, and those stuffed animals always seemed to slip away. But this Wisconsin lumberjack is a pro. In this video logger Garrett Smith expertly manuevers his forwarder to pluck a milk jug off the head of a struggling black bear.

Smith asked the cornfield’s owner for permission to help the bear. Which was a good idea because he tramples a lot of stalks in the process. Although he’s no great cameraman, the landowner managed to record Smith’s successful rescue attempt. As the freed bear scampers back to the woods, he can be heard saying, “That worked just like clockwork, by golly!”
