Update: It’s been a long, sometimes wet, sometimes windy day in the tree. The warm weather seems to have the deer bedded down. We’ve got a couple hours of light left and a high wind warning for tomorrow. So, prospects aren’t tremendous, but we’re hanging tough. My hope is holding out because several big bucks were seen from this stand last week.
I’m writing this from 20 feet up in an oak tree in Lancaster, Ohio for Record Quest.
It’s the first morning of my first-ever crossbow hunt here with Todd Frank and Clear Creek Outfitters. Post dawn drizzle has quit but steady rain is predicted for this afternoon. We’re going to hang in there until dark with the hope that deer will be up and moving around before the front moves through.
Ol Weather channel predicts very good hunting–bring it on.
