Kahrl's Kansas Bird

Well, with me being on the road to attend a media event held by Gander Mountain at the incredible Three Forks Ranch in Colorado (more on that later), I fell a few days behind on posting "Give Us The Bird" photos. So without further delay, here's todays pic:

Karhl_imageIt comes to us from 32-year-old Adam Kahrl, who was hunting turkeys May 12 on private land in El Dorado, Kan., and took this bird around 7:30 a.m. Here's his story in his own words:

While sitting at the edge of a small ravine, surrounded by timber on the surrounding hilltops, I called to some gobblers to the east. They answered initially, but after an hour moved off. I moved closer three different times and finally heard another call from the direction in which they had walked. The next call I heard about 15 minutes later came from behind me to the south from just over a hilltop. I swung around just in time to see this tom come over the hill right toward me. I celebrated the victory with my son Kaden! The beard was 9½ inches long and the spurs where an inch each.

Adam will be entered into our "Give Us The Bird" contest with prizes offered by Carry-Lite, Hunter's Specialties, Knight & Hale, Quaker Boy, Primos, Woodhaven Custom Calls and Woods Wise.
