Southeastern Success

Hart_image1Jason Hart of Baltimore, Md., found himself well on the way to completing his Grand Slam this spring with early season success in South Carolina and then Florida.

His first bird of 2006 (first picture) was an eastern taken March 17 in Berkeley County, S.C. The tom tipped the scales at 17 pounds and had a 9-inch beard and 1-inch spurs.

Ten days later, Jason killed an Osceola near Brigton, Fla., (second picture). That longbeard also weighed 17 pounds, had a 9-inch beard, but boasted 1 1/4-inch spurs.

Hart_image2Not pictured but part of his success for the season included a Merriam's that Jason tagged near Sheridan, Wyo. The Under Armour outdoor sales manager previously had taken a Rio.

Congrats, Jason. You'll be entered into our "Give Us The Bird" contest with prizes offered by Carry-Lite, Hunter's Specialties, Knight & Hale, Quaker Boy, Primos, Woodhaven Custom Calls and Woods Wise. For complete details and rules, click here.

Other Strut Zoners (to steal a name used by Michael Hanback on his Big Buck Zone) should hurry and send their pictures in as the contest ends soon.
