# Field Test: Alps Outdoorz Crossfire X Pack Review

I recently spent a few days in western Oklahoma hunting Rio Grande turkeys with [Rut N Strut Guide Service](<https://www.rutnstrutguideservice.com/>). The terrain we were hunting and the temperament of the birds dictated a run-and-gun approach, so I left my turkey vest at camp and instead opted for a pack to haul all the gear I needed for a day of hunting, specifically the [Crossfire X pack](<https://outdoorz.alpsbrands.com/products/extreme/crossfire-x/>) from Alps Outdoorz.

While the Crossfire X isn’t designed specifically for chasing gobblers, it serendipitously suited my needs better than I could’ve expected. Its 2,325 square-inch capacity provided ample space for all my gear, and the smart layout of the pockets kept everything I might need to access quickly close at hand. From a turkey hunting standpoint, the one thing it lacks is a seat cushion, but I was able to attach the seat from my vest to the pack’s lower straps, which worked like a charm.

You might think $180 is a lot to pay for a turkey kit, but when you consider that the versatile Crossfire X will transition seamlessly to my fall hunts, it represents a solid value as a year-round hunting pack.
