OVERVIEW

Of the four deer a team is allowed to take during the first round, only two may be darted with a given weapon type.

THE DEER DARTS

Transmitters in the darts will help locate downed animals.

HOW TO WIN

A team is allowed to dart a total of four deer during the initial heat to qualify for the finals. The teams from each heat with the highest total score, measured in gross antler inches, face each other in the finals. During the finals, each team is allowed to dart one deer, the one with the largest antlers being the winner. A total of $500,000 in prizes has been pledged for the two tournaments.

THE TOURNAMENT

Hunters compete in two four-team heats in the first round of the tournament. The winners of each heat go head-to-head in the finals.

WHAT TO USE

Hunters will now use archery gear, blackpowder and conventional firearms. The draw weights of the bows will be limited so that arrow speed doesn't exceed 200 feet per second.
