Super Bowl Hero Michael Strahan certainly knows how to stomp on Tom BradyÂ’s head, but did you know he also hunts?
Gotta Like Mike
I first met New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan more than 10 years ago. Invited on a celebrity turkey hunt at Turkey Trot Acres in Candor, New York (607-659-7849), the then Giant newcomer could not wait to do two things: Hunt spring gobblers and help raise money to build a new Little League field for kids in this western New York town. And, boy, did he ever succeed. If you watched Strahan's enthusiasm at the front of the Giants' ticker tape parade the other day, you'll understand his approach toward spring gobbler hunting. Did he shoot a bird? Duh. "Michael could not wait to get out into the woods that first morning," says Turkey Trot owner Pete Clare. "Yeah, he shot his bird flawlessly, but his help and passion in helping out our kids will always make Mike memorable for me. Half of the proceeds from the hunt and a special auction went to the National Wild Turkey Federation and the other half went to Candor's Little League. He could not have been any more gracious and helpful. (Pictured above) Michael Strahan on the porch of Turkey Trot Acres lodge with owner Pete Clare. Outdoor Life Online Editor
