Mountain Lions Feast On Deer Kill

Report from Dan and Arlene Schweitzer _ On October 19th, my husband Dan and our grandson Chad Uchytil were splitting wood while our dogs snooped around our property. One of our dogs, Badger seemed to be so interested in something that he did not come back when called. Upon investigating, Chad and Dan found a deer carcass, that had been obviously been killed recently by a mountain lion. Dan came to get me and show me the kill. We had found a kill in nearly the same spot about eight years ago. As I looked at the deer kill, I realized that a lion would not be too far from its kill. _Dan and Arlene Schweitzer
We got our motion sensitive camera and flood light out, hoping to catch the lions in action. Dusk was approaching as Chad and Dan tried to adjust the camera to get the best pictures possible. I was standing nearby calling out for them to hurry, in part to keep a noise going so the lion would not come back while we were there. They finished up and we quickly left the area.Outdoor Life Online Editor
_The next day after hooking the camera up to the television, Dan called me to exclaim that there were THREE mountain lions! We were so excited to see such rare photos of three lions at one kill. _Outdoor Life Online Editor
We live in The Black Hills of South Dakota. Our beautiful backyard is the forest, a creek and a canyon. What a gift. Thanks to Dan and Arlene Schweitzer for sharing their photos and story.
