Bobby Labonte is a fairly new-comer to hunting. But he’s got the elk bug, chasing New Mexico bulls in recent years, and he’s a wild-eyed whitetail bowhunter with good bucks to his credit.

Clint Bowyer is a Kansas native, but didn’t hunt deer until NASCAR owner Richard Chlidress got him interested. On his first hunt – ironically to Kansas – Bowyer collected his first buck, an 8-pointer.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a chip off the old Earnhardt block. Like his famous father, “Junior” is a hunter, too, though he didn’t get into bowhunting until last fall after leaving Texas Motor Speedway. Jr., his brother Kerry and Martin Truex Jr., teamed for a four-day Oklahoma hunt. Dale Jr. took to bowhunting fast, and got his first bow buck, and a turkey, too.

Elliot Sadler is a Virginian who has a hunting and fishing heart. He has Virginia property with a hunt camp and has this to say about it: “I have great guys around there. We have guys there that that’s all they do, make sure deer are well fed, make sure the dogs are happy, all the grass is cut, all the soybeans are planted and the corn is planted and all the paths are cut back so when hunting season starts we can go at it. “About the time September gets here we turn a lot of attention over to hunting and do our final little wrap-up to get ready for the season.” Oh, and Elliott’s a Nags Head fisherman, too, always looking for giant billfish, and fishing in tournaments, too.

Greg Biffle is a fishing machine, and once won a celebrity bass tournament in Orlando, out-fishing pro anglers Kevin Van Dam, Jay Yelas, Hank Parker Jr., and Shaw Grigsby. Biffle’s best bass that day was the biggest of the event, a 5-pound, 11-ouncer.

Jeff Gordon is a hunter and fisherman. For a time Zebco even sold a Jeff Gordon logo rod-and-reel spin-cast combination for youngsters.

Jeff Burton is a bass angler, and teamed with top tournament angler Kevin Van Dam to win a celebrity event. He hosted the Jeff Burton Celebrity Challenge fishing tournament in Florida.

Kasey Kahne is an avid outdoorsman and recently took the biggest whitetail of his life on a deer hunt in Texas using a Remington 700 rifle. “I’ve always said that success in hunting is a lot like good racing strategy – you have to relax and wait for your opportunity, and that’s exactly why I was able to harvest that awesome buck in Texas,” explains Kasey. “I love racing, but spending time in Remington Country is what rejuvenates my soul.”

Kerry Earnhardt is a passionate hunter, and has driven his car adorned with The National Wild Turkey Federation’s flying turkey logo.

Kevin Harvick is driven to hunt big game, especially elk, and is a big supporter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF). “I took a nice bull in New Mexico,” said Harvick. “That incredible hunt and experience helped me appreciate and admire the conservation work of the RMEF. This is an organization that’s doing great things to conserve wildlife habitat. And I am proud to help the Elk Foundation continue its work for future generations.”

Kurt Busch has donated his time to help fund the Alabama Wildlife Federation for celebrity sporting clays shoots. He’s a turkey hunter, too.

Martin Truex Jr. drives a Chevy sponsored by Bass Pro Shops and was bass fishing the lakes at Disney World a few days before the Daytona 500. You gotta love that outdoor outlook priority before the biggest race of his life – where he’s in the Daytona 500 pole position. He also runs the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation that promotes fishing for youths.

Richard Childress, the legendary NASCAR car owner, loves to hunt. Realtree’s Bill Jordon fondly remembers meeting Childress for the first time, and all Childress could talk about was a recent wild sheep hunt he’d just been on.

Ryan Newman is a hard-driving fisherman who casts from a Ranger bass boat, and is very involved with the outdoors. “Conservation is very important to me, which is why my foundation made a $10,000 grant to Trout Unlimited,” he says. “I want to be able to help other conservation groups in the future, and we are building the Ryan Newman Foundation Endowment by raising funds with events like our annual fishing tournament.”

Terry Labonte, like his brother Bobby, Terry is a hunter, too, pursuing elk and deer at every opportunity. Both Labonte’s are avid anglers, and have worked with the U.S. Coast Guard in promoting boating safety.

Tony Stewart loves to fish, including celebrity bass tournaments when he has the time. He lives on 120 acres in Indiana, with a man-made lake where he casts a line.
