David and Jeanie Stiles have written a total of 22 “how-to” books on building projects that range from tree houses and forts, to sheds, gazebos and garden houses, and have sold over 200,000 books. Their most recent book, Treehouses and Other Cool Stuff Â- 50 Projects You Can Build, became available in spring of 2008. They have received several awards, among them the ALA’s Notable Children’s Book Award for Treehouses You Can Actually Build, and their articles have appeared in many magazines and newspapers including House Beautiful, Better Homes and Gardens, Country Journal, Home Mechanix, Rebecca’s Garden’s and The New York Times. They have appeared on many television programs, including HGTV, Lifetime Television “Our Home” and the Discover Channel’s “Home Matters” shows. Most recently, they built a treehouse on The Today Show in Rockefeller Center, New York City. They divide their time between New York City and East Hampton, N.Y. where they live in a barn which they have renovated themselves. It is here that they build many of the projects that are included in their books.
