UPDATE: I just got all of my gear and I’m headed off to the woods. Check back at outdoorlife.com/livehunt on Tuesday for my full gear review.
A huge part of my off-season preparation is testing gear. I like to put each piece of equipment through the paces during the spring and summer before I take it into the field during the fall.
I plan on doing just that this weekend with Kuiu’s new Vias camo clothing line. In the next few days I’ll be getting a merino wool base layer, guide vest, attack pants, Chugach jacket and more to test from Kuiu. I’ll be one of the first people to get my hands on this new line of gear (it’s not even out yet) and I’m not going easy on it.
This weekend I’m taking a three-day shed hunting trip in Western Colorado, where I plan on facing deep snow, high winds and the general adverse mountain conditions. I’ll average about 12 miles on foot each day, so make sure to check back next week to see if the new Kuiu line could keep up.
