Bang

Bang - 10

One of my favorite times of year is almost here: our annual gun test. In order to test the guns you need to shoot the guns. And in order to shoot the guns you need ammo.

 Lots and lots of ammo.

This year I’ve ordered more than 3,500 rounds of centerfire rifle ammo. I don’t even want to guess at how many cases of shotgun shells I’m going to blow through.

My boss is going to freak when he gets the bill.

Yeah, yeah--I know. Trust me, I wasn't looking for sympathy.

Ha. You've never seen the OL gun test team at work. The shooting doesn't stop until someone says, "Where's the rest?"

That picture reminds me of my honeymoon. While my new bride and I were en route to our bear hunt honeymoon we stopped at a little gun shop in Montana to stretch our legs. Federal had changed the packaging of their Premium line of center fire ammo and the gun shop had all the old style boxes on sale. Factoring in the fact that Montana doesn’t have a sales tax into the sale price each box was a little more than half price of what I would have paid at home. I talked to the store owner and told him how much I was interested in and he discounted a little more bringing down the price to less than half of what I paid at home (I LOVE mom and pop gun shops). We walked out of there with over 600 rounds of Federal Premium ammunition. I assured my wife that this was an investment that would save us money in the long run; she was way ahead of me loading up box after box of .308 for her little rifle (see why I married her). We never shot a bear but we still have our supply of ammo for deer and antelope season at home.

John,
That's more ammo than my gun stores' had on its shelves lately. See if the factory will make an ammo run for me.

Hey Snow,
If you need some help, I could probably find some time in my busy schedule to give you a hand. It would be a shame if you got to sore trying to shoot all that up. If you spread it around to guys like me, you will be far less likely to have that annoying bruise on your shoulder that comes from being constantly beat on by a rifle or shotgun recoil pad. I would be willing to help spare you from needless pain and suffering. I'm so concerned about your health because I am a retired ER nurse. So my concerns are completely altruistic and trying to spare you from discomfort, Really, Honest!!!! ;)

Within the last month, there is an acute shortage of handgun ammo. I have noticed that at least 3 major retail chains in my part of the world have almost no inventory of handgun ammo. The sales people say that demand has been slighly above normal, but the real problem seems to be that their store are not getting any brand of ammo delivered. What do you suppose is up with that?
