This year Dodge is also up-grading its diesel engine for 2500 and 3500 pickups. The 6.7L Cummins I-6 turbo diesel, which replaces the 5.9L High-Output Cummins in January, produces 350 horsepower. The Ram's flex-fuel 4.7L V-8 is also an option for the '07 Dakota""the only midsize pickup that can be had with a V-8 engine. There are actually two V-8 options: the E85-capable, 230 hp model and the 260 hp High-Output version. No regular-cab Dakota is offered, just the Club Cab and six-passenger Quad Cab. Ford F-150 4x4
With all the buzz generated by the new GM pickups, Ford will have to work to retain the F-150's mantle as best-selling truck. That task is made tougher by the fact that the pickup is midway through its product cycle, with few headline-grabbing changes for '07. So Ford is aiming squarely at your wallet, reducing the prices of its F-150 pickups by up to $1,400. Ford has also increased its powertrain warranty and roadside-assistance package to five years or 60,000 miles. Two new models join the F-150 lineup: a sporty, 2WD FX2 and a Harley-Davidson edition of the SuperCrew that's available with 2WD or AWD powertrains. The 4.6L V-8 engine gets a bump in horsepower, from 231 to 248; and the 5.4L V-8 is now available in an E85-capable version. Ford has increased the F-150's tow capacity to match the 10,500-pound rating offered by the new GM trucks, though that number is achieved only in 2WD models. Ford's compact Ranger pickup enters 2007 mechanically identical to last year's model. New colors, new wheel designs and increased satellite-radio availability are the only changes. Ford F-150 4×4 Available Engines: 4.2L V-6, 4.6L V-8, 5.4L V-8 Max. Payload: 2,670 lb. Max. Tow Capacity: 8,500 lb. Min. 4×4 Ground Clearance: 8.3 in. Nissan Titan 4x4
Nissan's full-size Titan pickup moves into '07 with few changes. The 5.6L V-8 engine now produces 317 hp (up from 305), and towing capacity has grown as well. The truck is essentially unchanged otherwise""still a match for its Detroit-bred rivals in power, size and work capacity; still available in a choice of King or Crew Cab body styles; and still the only truck to come from the factory with a sprayed-in bed liner. The Frontier, Nissan's midsize truck, also enters the new model year little changed. Long-bed cargo boxes have been added to its Crew Cab body styles, and there are new appearance and value-oriented options packages. Like its big brother, the Frontier is available in both King and Crew Cab versions. In the 4×4 models, there's just one engine option available""the 261 hp, 4.0L V-6. 2007 Toyota Tundra Reviewed
The new Tundra, available in early 2007, represents the company's entrée into true full-size pickups. With selective production numbers it won't represent a tidal wave over other US pickup makers, but it's going to take a healthy bite. Outdoor Life Online Editor

A dog may be man’s best friend, but for an outdoorsman, his truck could be his best possession. A well-built 4×4 does it all: hauls gear to camp, tows a boat, tackles sloppy roads and so on. Since it’s important to have the slickest ride, Drew Hardin presents a round-up of new models for 2007.
