Veteran Hunter Takes Big Wisconsin Buck With Crossbow - 2
“I thought some of your older readers might like to see that old guys can still be successful at hunting the monster bucks here in Door County,” is how Rick Brawner of Fish Creek, Wisconsin signed the above photo he sent to Wisconsinoutdoorfun.com. The 68-year-old took this 13-point, 220-pound monster whitetail with a crossbow earlier this season. It's the biggest buck of his 50-year deer hunting career. Rick switched to a crossbow for medical reasons. “I gave up my regular bow three years ago because of arthritis, but still wanted to bow hunt,” Rick explained. Looks like Rick’s switch has paid off. Would you hunt with a crossbow once your vertical bow days are over? What do you think this buck scores? Comment below! |

Nice buck Rick!, he's a goodun!, should score 150 anyway, and I don't have any objection to using a crossbow at all.

Anybody who would spurn using a crossbow when they could no longer physically use an "upright" bow probably wasn't a very hardcore hunter to begin with. If you truly love hunting, you'll use any legal means necessary to enable to you get out there.
Tough to tell the score of that buck from the photo, and it really doesn't matter anyway, a heck of a trophy regardless.
