I’m sure that many of you are familiar with Ashley Hlebinsky. This dynamic young woman has been making headlines since she took over as the curator of the Cody Firearms Museum in Wyoming last year. She’s bringing a welcomed burst of enthusiasm and energy to the stodgy world of historical firearms.

We profiled Ashley in the pages of Outdoor Life not long ago and I knew when I interviewed her for that piece that she would be a good fit with the Gun Shots.

Starting today, Ashley will be contributing a “Gun of the Week” post appearing each Monday.

Since we don’t care much for rules around here, the firearms she chooses to talk about are up to her. One week the gun might be part of the collection at her museum or it could be the pistol that she is currently carrying on her hip. If there’s a particular gun you’d like to know more about, leave a comment, and I’m sure she’ll do what she can to accommodate you.

In the meantime, enjoy her inaugural post on the mysterious “Forgotten Winchester” that was found leaning against a tree in Great Basin National Park in Nevada.
